Most gas stations will have air machines that will provide you with air pressure readings. If it is a digital one, placing the air pump on the valve stem will show the air pressure in the tire on its display. However, with a manual air pump, placing it on the valve stem will push out a bar that will stop at the PSI levels currently in the tire.
